Commitment to innovation.

Francesca Bonino

Head of Biological, Ergonomics, Stress and Occupational Medicine Sector

Your scientific journey

It’s quite unusual because, at first, I wanted to be a doctor. To be precise, an Infectious Disease Doctor. I studied Medicine and Surgery in Pavia (Italy) (1998). During my specialization I ended up studying Industrial Hygiene and I got hooked. I also got a Master in Ergonomics. From there, health risk assessment became my job.

Life led me to deal with my first great passion: infectious disease – such as biological risk and biological exposure in workplaces. It is such a tough time due to COVID-19. I managed a lot of SARS-CoV-2 consulting services and I have to say it was very interesting and fulfilling.

Who inspired you in your personal and professional life?

With no doubt, my mom. She taught me the most important lesson of my life: give everything, give 100% in whatever you do! Even if something goes wrong, you have to be aware you’ve done what you could.

What do you love about your job?

First of all, I love that, despite LabAnalysis’ fast growth in the past years, you can always have a direct connection with the Board Management. I’ve never felt just a number and I always had the possibility to express myself and confront with them.
Secondly, I love LabAnalysis’ vision. We look to the future and we’re able to be one step ahead.
Lastly, we have locations throughout Italy. This means that I can confront with people with different mindset, workstyle and ideas. It’s very inspiring.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a Manager?

Thanks to my experience and a management course that LabAnalysis allowed me to attend, I’ve learnt 2 very important rules.

First. Every person in the team is different. I must know them better and organize their work allowing them to highlight their qualities.
Second. It’s more difficult than the first one. My team can’t be built up to my image. You can do a job in a different way from mine. You don’t have to necessarily follow my steps and my methodology. I must accept there’s not a best way, if you reach the goal.

What are you looking for from new colleagues?

Hard skills of course. Otherwise, I can’t consider the application.
After that, I’m looking for empathy: in consulting you’re dealing with lots of different customers and you should be capable to instantly understand their needs.
I also appreciate problem solving skills.
